WHERE: Lake Bled & Ljubljana, Slovenia
WHEN: April 2014
HOW LONG FOR: 2 days
I love going to Eastern Europe – only 2 hours away from London by plane, but you feel like you’re a million miles away from home with the beautiful red rooftops and domed buildings. When we landed in Slovenia, it felt like we had plopped right into a fairytale surrounded by snow-capped mountains and beautiful rolling green hills.
We stayed in Ljubljana, but spent our first day on a trip to Lake Bled. We took the public bus, which had free WiFi. FREE WIFI! We were pretty excited by this, and spent the whole journey snapchatting and whatsapp-ing pictures of the beautiful scenery to jealous family and friends back home. Lake Bled was one of my favourite days out ever. The weather was beautifully sunny and I just felt so relaxed and content. We rented a little rowing boat which was SO much fun, and rowed out to the little island in the middle of the lake. After that, we had ice cream by the lake followed by a scrummy lunch at the cafe who’s name I can’t remember (sorry!). Finally we walked up to the castle which had beautiful views over the lake and surrounding mountains.

We spent our second day exploring Ljubljana. It’s a lovely place to walk around – so quiet for a capital city! We went up to the castle, strolled along the river criss-crossing over the different bridges (the triple bridge and the dragon bridge were our favourites), and wandered around Tivoli Park.

GREAT FOOD:
RESTAVRACIJA MOST: We actually ate here two nights, it had a lovely atmosphere!
MARLEY AND ME: We had read about this place on tripadvisor. When we got there it was empty, but the waiter sat us in the window and it filled up after that! Also a very cute setting.
CACAO: yummy cakes and ice cream right on the river
Stunning!
