2015’s Top 5 & 2016 Goals

IT’S 2016! How is it already 2016?

Firstly, I want to apologise for how long it’s been since my last post! I feel like the last few months of 2015 just whizzed right by! I wanted to start this year by writing a little something to reflect on my favourite travel moments from 2015 and share some of my goals for this year.

2015 TOP FIVE

I’ve been reading a lot of other bloggers listing their favourite moments of last year and it’s made me reflect on my 2015. I’m one of those people who constantly focusses on where I want to go and what I want to do next, and as a result I often forget to appreciate the things I have been lucky enough to have already done. So here are my top 5 travel moments from last year!

#5: MAKING THE MOST OF BOSTON

I travelled to the States in June for work – I flew into Boston and had just one evening there before heading off to Newry the following day. I’m so happy I fought my jetlag and made the most of my 5 hours in this awesome city!

#4: EXPLORING FAIRY GLEN

This year I realised that how beautiful and interesting a place is is not directly proportional to how far you have to travel to get there. In April we went on a little trip to North Wales, and explored a gorgeous little corner of the world called Fairy Glen.

#3: Spending New Year in Budapest

I have to admit, I’m not a massive fan of New Years Eve. Getting together with my closest friends to chat, play games and giggle our way into the new year? – HELL YES I’M THERE. Standing in a sweaty, loud and overcrowded club with my ears ringing and trying to keep track of my friends amongst drunk strangers? – NO TA, NOT MY CUP OF TEA. This year, I took my new year into my own hands. Instead of risking being underwhelmed, I did one of my favourite things instead – exploring somewhere new. And boy, am I glad I did. Thanks for the best start to 2015, Budapest!

#2: Swimming with Dolphins in Cuba

In April I went to Cuba for the sea and sunshine. While I was there I unexpectedly had the opportunity to fulfil one of my childhood dreams – swimming with dolphins. I remember constantly begging my parents to take me to Discovery Cove in Florida which, at a cost of nearly $300pp, we never quite managed. Sometimes, life throws opportunities at you when you least expect it, and you just have to jump in (winky face) and grab them with both hands.

#1 Chilling out in the Cinque Terre

I had been google-imaging the Cinque Terre saying I wanted to go there for about 5 years. This year, I took myself there and had the best weekend where I completely relaxed and just enjoyed the views, the hiking and the food. Oh my gosh the food! It really was my happy place.

So, what about this year?

2016 GOALS

  1. BLOG MORE. I’ve been stuck in a little rut with my blog, because I’ve felt like if I haven’t been on a big holiday, there isn’t anything to blog. But that’s not true at all and somewhat shortsighted on my part. I’m going to start exploring what’s on my doorstep and blog about places I already know! A lot of my viewers are from outside the UK, so places closer to home are equally deserving of a spot in my little corner of the internet as those that require a journey through the clouds.
  2. GET AN AWESOME NEW CAMERA AND TAKE MY PHOTOGRAPHS TO THE NEXT LEVEL. There. I said it in writing online for everyone to see. I have to do it now. I love my little bridge camera. It was my 21st birthday present. It taught me the basics of photography. It’s been my comfort zone for years. But it’s time to jump into the world of swapping lenses and learn learn learn!
  3. SET UP A TWITTER ACCOUNT. This last one is pretty self explanatory. I’ll let you know when I do.

2016, come at me!
