The Wedding Edit: Our Cotswolds Minimoon!

After our wedding day, we took a little time out for a minimoon in the Cotswolds. I spoke about this in my last post, but I’m so glad we did the minimoon thing, rather than going on our honeymoon straight away. After the wedding, we just wanted to spend time together and enjoy being husband and wife – the last thing we wanted to do was travel somewhere far away. So we booked one night in the gorgeous artist residence hotel in South Leigh, Oxfordshire. When we arrived, they told us we had been upgraded to their best room! It was an amazing converted barn, with the bathroom of DREAMS. The Artist Residence team left us a cute little congrats card, and we didn’t hesitate in ordering drinks (cocktail for me, beer for the hubz…soz haha…even I hated me then). We sat on our terrace in the sun, and had a nice chilled bevvy before dinner. We ate at the Mason Arms, which is in the Artist Residence hotel. I had the fish and chips which was EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED. Aled had the Pie… it was quite…small! But tasted lovely all the same ! The next morning, the lovely artist residence peeps delivered pancakes to our room – best start to the day ever!

On our first day in the Cotwolds we explored beautiful Bibury. When you think of an ‘english village’, you’re picturing Bibury. Or, more specifically, Arlington Row – a little stretch of old cottages winding their way up the hill. There’s not a lot to do in Bibury – we basically just wandered around lusting over all the dream houses and eating ice cream – an afternoon well spent if you ask me. On our second day we visited Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-water…. where I didn’t manage to take any photos! We had visited both villages before- Bourton-on-the-water is by far my favourite of the two (but Bibury still pips ’em both to the top spot). We had a lovely picnic by the river, watched some extremely territorial ducks have a spat, and then headed home. The perfect post wedding break!
