About me: science geek and proud

Day-to-day I’m a scientist. And I love it. It’s exciting to know that I’m working on something completely new and unexplored. Communicating science is something that I am pretty passionate about. Teaching people about what I do at science festivals is wonderfully rewarding. Non-scientist friends telling me they enjoyed (and understood) an article I wrote for the local magazine or for fellow scicomm-lover’s blog honestly makes my day. So, why start a travel blog?

Over the last few years, I’ve come to realise that I suffer quite heavily from wanderlust. Between experiments, I spend a lot of time scouring the internet trying to plan my next trip. What I enjoy reading most are blogs. Travelling is an experience, and some of the best travel tips and ideas about where to go next come from reading about other people’s adventures! So I decided to start my own – it’s so nice having an creative outlet where I can re-live all my favourite travel moments at the click of a button!

But is this blog only about travel?

It definitely started that way – but I’m beginning to tentatively step outside of the travel box. Although travelling is still my absolute favourite thing to do, money and time limit how much I can do it. I find creating content for my blog so therapeutic, and I want my little electronic journal to start to reflect other things I’m passionate about. I figure the world (wide web) is my oyster, so watch out for a few little posts on food, fitness, wedding planning and home decor!
